Instructions after cataract surgery

Symptoms:

After the operation, your eyesight will be relatively blurry.

You may also have the following symptoms:

  • Foreign body Sensation
  • Itching
  • Tearing (Running tears)
  • Redness
  • Swelling of the eyelids (swelling)
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Headache

All this is completely normal and transient. Your eye drops, artificial tears and a night of good sleep after surgery will help you cope.

In any other case please contact us immediately.

Eye drops starting 2 days before the day of surgery and the morning before surgery (3 types of drops):

Attention:

  • Shake the eye drops thoroughly before each use.
  • Squeeze 1-2 drops into each eye, 4 times a day, for the appropriate days.
  • Before using the second eye drops, wait five minutes.

Vigamox (antibiotic):
One Drop 4 times a day in the eye that will be operated.

Lotemax (cortisone):
One drop 4 times a day in the eye that will be operated.

Yellox (anti-inflammatory):
One drop 4 times a day in the eye that will be operated.

Tablets starting the day before surgery and for 5 days:

Tavanic 500 mg (antibiotic):
One tablet-a-day after lunch.

Eye drops from the next day of surgery (3 types of drops):

  1. Vigamox (antibiotic):

One drop 4 times a day in the operated eye for 30 days.

  1. Lotemax (cortisone):

One drop 4 times a day in the operated eye for 30 days.

  1. Yellox (anti-inflammatory):

One drop 4 times a day in the operated eye for 30 days.

Back home:

  • The eye drops are not used during night sleep. They will also be applied with a difference of 5-6 minutes from each other irrespective of order.
  • It is very important to pay attention to the hygiene of your eyes for 7 days after surgery.
  • Do not touch or rub your eyes.
  • Do not lift heavy objects.
  • Try not to sleep on the side of the operated eye
  • You can work out at least 7 days after surgery and in consultation with your doctor.
  • Do not swim for 7 days and do not let the water run up your eyes. Bathe with help with your head tilted backward and your eyes closed, as at the hairdresser.
  • Avoid using cosmetics, eye makeup, mascara, and colored contact lenses for at least 7 days after surgery.
  • Avoid driving until you feel confident about your eyesight.
